Do I Trust God?
John 11:1-44: The story of Lazarus being raised from the dead.
It’s easy to say yes, I trust God until problems arise and we wonder why. In the story of Lazarus, we are told Jesus waited two days after hearing Lazarus was sick. Verse 4: When He heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
Verses 9-10: Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light. It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.” When we trust Jesus and walk in His light, we will not stumble.
Both Martha & Mary, sisters of Lazarus, told Jesus that if He had been there, their brother would not have died. Jesus’ reply is found in verses 25-26: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Where there is no way, Jesus makes a way.
Where there is no hope, Jesus brings hope.
In an impossible situation, Jesus makes it possible.
Jesus turns graves into gardens.
Trust is part of the story. There are no mistakes with Jesus. Our struggles can become the means of bringing glory to God. As in the story of Lazarus, there may be a waiting period but His plan is perfect.
Jesus loves us and has promised never to leave us or forsake us or abandon us. There is a reason and purpose for everything that happens in our lives. We can trust God in every aspect of our lives, even when we don’t understand why.
