“Three Scenarios of the Christian Challenge”
Timothy 4
Point one: The Challenge of Your Purpose. Example: Paul & Timothy—We are called to do the work of God for the purpose of God, to preach the Word, to be ready in season and out of season, and to exhort with complete patience and teaching. If we know our purpose, we will be patient.
Point two: The Challenge of Your Charge. Example: Hugh Latimer, who was an English reformer, burned at the stake. As he was being tied to the stake, he said to his fellow martyr Nicholas Ridley, “Play the man, Master Ridley. We shall this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.” For his story, go to: https://www.justbringithome.com/single-post/2017/10/25/Story-of-the-Reformer-Hugh-Latimer
Point three: The Challenge is Contemporary—it is for today. We are called to a ministry of reconciliation, to an eagerness to make the Gospel known, to a living hope—to love His appearing and to be faithful for God’s glory. Our challenge will end when Jesus returns to take us home to be with Him forever.
