“I Love My Church”
John 13:34-35: ”A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples if you love one another.”
What should be the soundtrack (culture) of a church? Our text tells us that it should be love. That is how we show we are His disciples.
What does the church have to offer?
Greatest Gift: Salvation. Jesus loves us and died that our sins can be wiped clean and gives us the assurance of spending eternity with Him. We also have the indwelling Holy Spirit to help us while we live here on earth.
Good Service: The church is a ministry that reaches out to meet the needs of its members and of the community. These are “felt needs” (physical).
God’s Word: The church proclaims the truth of God’s Word which meets “real needs” (spiritual).
Acts 2:42, 46-47: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
The church offers all these things listed in these verses resulting in a person being spiritually healthy. As we follow the example of the New Testament Church, the Lord will add to our number. Let us join together to proclaim: “I Love My Church!”
