Bible Text: Acts 14 | Speaker: Blake Nichols | Series: Acts | The Tale of 3 Shirts
Acts 14
We often want a set of rules to live by but it is all about a relationship. There are three ways to live:
Live by the flesh
Live by the law
Live by the Spirit
As believers, we are to stay in step with the Spirit, to follow His leading step by step. As we grow in our relationship with the Spirit, it pushes out sin in our life. We begin to look at the negative things in life through a positive lens.
We are to be in alignment with the Spirit. Pastor Blake demonstrated this point with three shirts:
Shirt 1 had only one button buttoned. This demonstrates a person who has received Christ but is not walking by the Spirit, resulting in a life that does not bring glory to God and is all about self.
Shirt 2 was buttoned incorrectly and that is what a believer looks like when not walking in alignment with the Spirit. A shirt buttoned incorrectly is not comfortable and the life of such a believer lacks purpose and fulfillment.
Shirt 3 is buttoned correctly demonstrating a believer who is walking in alignment with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25 ESV …Keep in step with the Spirit…). A shirt properly buttoned is attractive and comfortable and that is what the life of a believer should be.
The context of our life or what we base our life on will affect our perspective. As believers, our context should be on God and not our self. Whatever we do is to bring glory to God.
Start your day with God and with the purpose of doing everything in the context of doing it for Him. Let your focus be on God and not self.
