For Such a Time as This
Esther 4-7
Esther enters the court of the palace and is received by the King. She asked the King to come to a banquet and bring Haman. At the banquet, she asks the King & Haman to return a second time for another banquet.
Haman leaves in high spirits until he sees Mordecai not giving him the honor he deserves. He plots with his family to set up a pole and then get permission from the King to impale Mordecai on it.
Meanwhile, the King is unable to sleep that night and has the book of the Chronicles read to him. He discovers that Mordecai had exposed a plot to kill him but was never rewarded for it. The next day the King has Herman honor Mordecai.
Haman is exposed by Queen Esther at the second banquet and Haman is impaled on the pole meant for Mordecai.
Esther waited on God’s timing and is an example for us.
Four truths to remember when waiting on God’s timing:
Point 1: Align yourself with God.
Point 2: God knows you’re tired. He wants to give you rest in the middle of your circumstances.
Point 3: God is always working behind the scenes. God has everything but a watch.
Point 4: “But God” moments change everything. God is able to change your mess into a message.
Quote from Shadowlands, a movie about C.S. Lewis:
“I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time – waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God- it changes me.”
