Good God Almighty
Thankful in the Valley.
Psalm 23:4
There is no such thing as a valley-free life. It is said that all sunshine and no rain makes a desert. Fruit grows in the valley. Notice the two phrases even though and walk through. Even though tells us the valley is coming, even if you are not in it at this time. (1) Valleys are a part of life. You can expect them. 1 Peter 4:12. (2) Valleys happen to everyone. Psalm 34:19. (3) Valleys are unpredictable. (4) Valleys are an expression of God’s goodness. 1 Kings 20:28 tells us that God is God of the hills and God is God of the valleys.
Walk through gives us a number of lessons: (1) There is a light ahead when we are going through dark times. In Hosea 2:15 we are told that in the valley, God will provide a door of hope. (2) God is with us in the darkest valley. (3) We enjoy God in the mountain experiences but deep intimacy happens in the valley times. (4) We don’t really know God until we go through hard times.
How do we handle the valley times?
Keep walking forward. Satan tells us to give up. In Ezekiel 37, God’s hand was revealed in the middle of the valley.
Use flashlight. Psalm 119:105: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
See God in the valley. Shadow can’t hurt you. There is a strong light force on the other side of the shadow. Don’t look at the shadow but look for the sun. Look for the light at the end of the tunnel. Let God show you His light.
