The Moment You Die
 2 Corinthians 5, Luke 16
Series: Afterlife, Part 2
Everyone will experience death.  We should embrace it but no need to speed it up.  We need not run from it either.

What we need to remember:

Jesus has got us in death. It is not the end.  It is simply a passage from life to the afterlife.  He is the resurrection and life.  John 11:25-26
At death, our spirit and body separate. Ecclesiastes 12:7. Our earth suit is like a tent that we leave behind when we die.
We confidently know when we die, we will instantly be with Jesus. In Acts 5:59 Stephen prayed for Jesus to receive his spirit.
The spirit of unbelievers goes to a place void of God’s presence. In Luke 16:19-31 is an example with the story of the rich man and Lazarus.
Believers will appear before the judgment seat of Christ. This is not a judgment to determine where we go for eternity but about responsibility for our actions while on earth. 1 Corinthians 5:10.

How then shall we live?

¨ Let us cherish the life God has given us.

¨ Let us store up treasures in Heaven.

¨ Let us make decisions in light of eternity.
