The Bridge
the Afterlife
Life and the afterlife are not a two-step process.  Instead, it is a continual journey, a bridge from one place to the other.  There are different views about the afterlife: Some believe life simply ends.  Others have a belief in reincarnation.  As believers, we’re confident of God’s promise of eternal life in heaven with Him.  When a believer closes his eyes in death, he will open them in heaven.  What anticipation and excitement should be ours because we will see Jesus in all His glory!  There is no gap between here and there so we need not be fearful.  We are to live for the journey and not just this life.

Point to remember: We are on a bridge that leads to death but ends in heaven.  How do we want to be remembered at our memorial service?  Heartbeat for unborn baby starts at 6 weeks and continues until the time of death.  A dash is inserted between the dates of birth and death.  The question is what are we doing with the dash?

Jesus is The Bridge for us to cross over from this life to the afterlife with Him forever.  This truth should affect the way we live and give us the motivation to share with others the good news of the Gospel.
