Bible Text: Acts 8:1-25 | Speaker: Blake Nichols | Which of These Three?
Acts 8:1-25
Looking at three characters from this chapter and their example for us.
Definition of discipleship: Finding people where they are and help them to get where God wants them to be.
We always have room to grow no matter where we are in our Christian walk.
•First Character: Saul, persecutor of Christians.
Point one: God cares about His enemies. Do you? We all were enemies of God at one time until we joined God’s family.
•Second Character: Philip, Deacon (just an ordinary person serving God)
Point two: God can do the extra-ordinary with the ordinary.
It is God who equips us for service. Persecution caused Christians to move out of Jerusalem and Philip moved to Samaria where he continued to share Jesus. Jesus knew what was coming for Philip and Jesus knows what is coming for us. Embrace the plan God has for your life.
•Third Character: Simon the magician.
Point three: God desires us to continually take off the old nature and put on the new.
God’s kindness leads us to repentance. We need someone in our life to speak truth, to make us accountable in our Christian life.
Which of these three characters are you? Every one of us is a work in progress.
