Mountain Climbing
Matthew 5:1-6 NIV
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up to a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach them. He said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs, is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Matthew 5:1-2 The Message–When Jesus saw His ministry drawing huge crowds, He climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to Him, the committed, climbed with Him. Arriving at a quiet place, He sat down and taught His climbing companions.
Steps To A Blessed Life:
Be intentional about your spiritual life. Be a mountain climber.
Admit your need for God. Matthew 5:3 The Message “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you, there is more of God and His rule.”
Look for God’s love in the middle of your losses. Losses should bring us into the arms of God.
Learn how to live a life of contentment. Matthew 5:5 The Message “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
Develop a hunger and thirst for God. Desiring to find God would be absurd if He didn’t exist.
