Redemption
Story of Ruth; Colossians 1:13 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves…
To fully understand our redemption:
Point 1: We must understand the hopelessness of our past situation. Without redemption, there is no hope for the future and no support system from Jesus and the Body of Christ. Naomi was without hope after the loss of her husband and two sons while in the land of Moab.
Point 2: We must understand the depth of God’s love. Naomi returns to Israel and there discovers she & Ruth have a guardian-redeemer and hope is restored. Likewise, God provided Jesus to be our kinsman-redeemer because of His great love for us.
Point 3: We must understand the unique completeness of God’s redemption. Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Point 4: We must understand that redemption is so much more than just removing us from our past situation. Redemption+Adoption. Galatians 4:4-7 But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir.
Point 5: We must understand our redemption makes us part of His story. Ruth 4:16-27 Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The woman living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
